All departments should work in coordination for complete elimination of drug abuse: Ashika Jain.

Hoshiarpur- A meeting of the 'ANCARD' committee constituted for effective prevention of drug abuse in the district was held today in the district administrative complex under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain. On this occasion, she reviewed the prevention of drug abuse and its ill effects by various departments of the district and gave necessary guidelines.

On this occasion, she reviewed the prevention of drug abuse and its ill effects by various departments of the district and gave necessary guidelines.
Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain clarified that the solution to the problem of drug abuse is possible only through mutual coordination and continuous efforts. She said that the police, health, education and other related departments should work together with dedication so that the root cause of drug abuse can be eliminated. She directed that the civil and police administration should run public awareness campaigns and investigation campaigns regularly with the help of social welfare organizations.
She said that to save the youth from drug abuse, they should be attracted towards sports and creative activities so that their attention is diverted from negative tendencies. Along with this, it should be made mandatory to make the students aware about the ill effects of drug abuse in schools. The Deputy Commissioner directed the drug inspectors to keep a strict vigil on the sale of drugs and conduct regular checks so that the supply of drugs can be stopped.
On this occasion, SP Major Singh said that the district police is continuously taking action under the 'Nashe Par War' campaign. He said that a strict vigil is being kept on drug smugglers and special campaigns are being run in hotspot areas. He appealed to the general public that if any person in their village or locality sells drugs, then they should immediately inform the police about it.
The identity of the person giving information will be kept completely confidential. On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, SDM Hoshiarpur Gursimranjit Kaur, Assistant Commissioner Oshi Mandal, Chief Executive Officer Parampreet Singh, RTO Sanjeev Kumar and officers of various departments were present.
