Chandigarh | Today, on 13th November, 2024, a lecture was organized on the topic “Muktibodh and his struggle” under the birth anniversary special program by the Hindi department, Punjab University, Chandigarh. In this program, Dr. Pankaj Srivastava (Chairman, Department of Philosophy, Punjab University, Chandigarh) presented a topic-based lecture as the keynote speaker.
Dr. Pankaj Srivastava said in his statement that there is a wonderful harmony of sensitivity with knowledge in Muktibodh's poems. He talks about connecting a person with work instead of duty. That is why he talks about breaking all kinds of institutions. Muktibodh did not write poetry as a hobby, but he was so deeply connected to poetry that after writing poetry, he used to sit alone and sing it in a loud voice. On studying Muktibodh seriously, we find that he is a poet of experience. He made his poems relevant in modern times by making many mythological characters symbols. His field of study has been very wide and as a result, the terminology of many sciences, philosophy, literature etc. can be seen in his works. Muktibodh is a poet committed to the expression of experienced reality. After this, he answered the questions of the students according to the subject.
At the beginning of the program, the Head of the Hindi Department, Prof. Ashok Kumar formally welcomed the guest by presenting him a gift. He said that writers like Muktibodh, Pash and Dushyant Kumar have made the reality of society the basis of literature. These poets have not only created literature but have also talked about the rights of the common man. Muktibodh's world-famous poem 'Andhere Mein' is also taught in our syllabus, which may seem to be the description of a person full of despair, but it also inspires us to take steps towards light.
Among the researchers, Rahul Roy, Mamta Kalra, Pinky and student Himanshu (first session), asked questions, queries and comments related to Muktibodh's life, poems and ideology. And in the end, the Head of the Department, Prof. Ashok Kumar thanked the keynote speaker of the program, Dr. Pankaj Srivastava. Prof. Sudhir Mehra from the English Department, Dr. Kulwinder Singh from the UBS Department, researchers and students were present in the program. The program was successfully conducted by researcher Rekha Maurya.
