Abohar, July 8 - Two suspects in the murder case of Abohar businessman Sanjay Verma were killed in a police encounter on the outskirts of Abohar city on Tuesday, officials said. The accused were being taken for recovery of weapons when the firing started and both the accused were killed.
It is noteworthy that Sanjay Verma, co-owner of the famous New Wear Well Emporium in Abohar, was shot dead in broad daylight outside his showroom on Monday. The Punjab Police had arrested two accused involved in the murder last night.
The killers escaped on a motorcycle, which was helped by an accomplice who was waiting nearby. Later, they abandoned the bicycle on the roadside and fled in a car parked near Sitto Gunno Road.
Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla, after inspecting the crime scene this afternoon, said that the investigation into the case is progressing rapidly and all the accused will soon be in police custody.
