Nawanshahr - Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa organized a special meeting with the district officials of various departments at the meeting hall of District Administrative Complex, Nawanshahr to review the advance arrangements made regarding possible flood prevention.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (P.V.) Sagar Setia, SDM Nawanshahr Dr. Akshita Gupta, Assistant Commissioner General Dr. Gurleen Kaur, SDM Balachore Ravinder Bansal, SDM Vikramjit Singh Panthe and other district officers of the concerned department were present on this occasion. Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa said that the rainy season is starting in the coming days and as some areas of the district are located on the banks of rivers, there is a possibility of possible floods in these villages.
He instructed the departmental officials to be fully prepared for any such situation. He said that every officer will be aware of the possible floods so that if necessary, he can complete his work with full honesty and responsibility. He directed the concerned officials and said that all the goods like votes, engines, life jackets etc. should be prepared and kept in the district in order to prevent possible floods so that the requirements can be met if necessary. He instructed the officials to be fully prepared for the villages near the river and the villages that are affected by possible floods.
The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the concerned department to complete the work under preparation for the construction of relief camps in the district keeping in mind the possible floods and to make arrangements for electricity, water, toilets etc. in the relief camps to be constructed. He said that flood control rooms have been set up in the district so that any untoward incident in case of flood can be dealt with. He said that during possible floods, the control room in Tehsil Banga can also be contacted on 01823-264666 and the Civil Surgeon office on 01823-227471. He instructed the concerned officials to clean the drains, drains etc. in the city and villages as soon as there is time so that they do not have to face any kind of trouble during rainy days.
