Nawanshahr - A seminar on “International Anti-Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Day” was organized at Red Cross Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center, Nawanshahr. Which was chaired by Mrs. Rajkiran Kaur (District Social Security Officer). This seminar was conducted as per the guidelines and under the guidance of Honorable Secretary Shri Shivdular Singh Dhillon, Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab State Branch, Chandigarh.
Nawanshahr - A seminar on “International Anti-Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Day” was organized at Red Cross Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Center, Nawanshahr. Which was chaired by Mrs. Rajkiran Kaur (District Social Security Officer). This seminar was conducted as per the guidelines and under the guidance of Honorable Secretary Shri Shivdular Singh Dhillon, Indian Red Cross Society, Punjab State Branch, Chandigarh. This awareness seminar was held on June 26, keeping in mind the International Day Against Drug Addiction and Illicit Trafficking.
The chief guest on this occasion was Shri Sandeep Kumar (SHO Nawanshahr). This year's theme was “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention”. Upkar Coordination Society Nawanshahr, Human Rights Awakening Forum Society Nawanshahr, Senior Citizen, Navjot Sahat Sanstha Aur, Sukhmani Sahib Sewa Society Nawanshahr, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Ranho, Guru Ramdas Sewa Society Nawanshahr, Duaba Sewa Samiti Nawanshahr, Bharatiya Vikas Parishad, Environmental Service Society through A seminar was conducted with the support of other social service societies. On this occasion, Mr. Sandeep Kumar (SHO Nawanshahr) said in his address speech that the district police is making every possible effort to stop drug addiction. He said that you can give the information of the drug dealer on the number issued by the police. He, along with the people present in the seminar, promised that we will not do drugs and will catch the drug sellers and hand them over to the police. He said that with the help of people, the police can curb the sale of drugs. While addressing the seminar, Dr. Rajan Shastri (psychiatrist) said that addiction is a mental disease. The youths who are stuck in the mire of drugs can be taken out of the mire of drugs by giving them medical treatment in the de-addiction centers opened by the government without any discrimination. He said that to reduce drug addiction, the supply and demand of drugs should be reduced. Supply can be reduced by government and statutory bodies taking action. Drug demand can be reduced with the cooperation of doctors and the public. The patients and their parents were also given detailed information about the drug. And in this regard also gave information about drugs, how drug addicts are treated. Chaman Singh (Project Director) during his speech said that this day is International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking celebrated on June 26 every year. This year's campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of treating people who use drugs with respect and compassion; Providing evidence-based, voluntary services for all; offering alternatives to punishment; prioritizing prevention; and leads with compassion. In the seminar Mrs. Rajkiran Kaur (Staff Member District Social Security Officer, Nawanshahr) said in her address speech that we should boycott the drug seller in the society. Donations should not be taken from them in religious places. We all should take it as our responsibility to educate the school children about drugs. So that they can escape from this drug swamp. On this occasion Shri Narinder Singh Bharata (Teacher), Jaspal Singh Giddha (Upkar Society), Des Raj Bali (Manukhi Adhikar Jagarti Manch Society), SK Puri (Secretary Senior Citizen Association Navasihar), Subhash Arora, Sukhwinder Singh Thandi, Sukhwinder Singh Thandi , Jaswinder Singh Ranho Swachh Bharat, Hari Kishan Patwari, also presented their views. On this occasion, Shri Sandeep Kumar (SHO Nawanshahr), Mrs. Rajkiran Kaur (District Social Security Officer), Dr. Rajan Shastri (Psychiatrist) were presented with medals. On this occasion, the Red Cross De-Addiction Center presented the honor to the social service organizations.
