Giving information in this regard, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that a help desk has been set up for interested students at Pandit Jagat Ram Government Polytechnic College, Hoshiarpur. She said that students interested in pursuing technical education can take admission by depositing their online registration fee at this help desk without any additional charge.
She said that 10th pass students can take admission in the first year of Engineering Diploma, while ITI (two years), 12th (Vocational), 12th (Science) pass students can take admission in the second year. Students who have passed 12th (Science) can also take admission in the first year of Pharmacy Diploma. Special duties of staff have been assigned on every working day to assist students seeking admission in online registration.
The college is not charging any fee for typing and photocopying, signature and certificate scanning etc. for the said registration. He informed that registration for admission in these courses has already started. College Principal Rajesh Kumar Dhunna informed that a guidance cell has been set up under the supervision of Dr. Pankaj Chawla (Phone No. 94170-74774) to provide information to students and their parents about various technical courses running across Punjab.
Valuable information regarding various engineering, diploma courses and pharmacy courses running in the college and the fees of these courses can be obtained free of cost from this cell. He informed that Pandit Jagat Ram Government Polytechnic College Hoshiarpur has been making valuable contribution in highlighting technical skills among students since the year 1962.
This college has also been declared the best polytechnic college of North India. Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, ECE, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering (Plastic and Polymers) and Pharmacy Diploma courses are being run in this college.
In-charge of Guidance Cell, Dr. Pankaj Chawla said that as per the instructions of Punjab/Government of India, special concessions in fees are being given to the students of Scheduled Caste, Backward Class, Minority category etc. For Scheduled Caste students, whose family income is up to Rs 2.50 lakh, the fee for the entire course of first year/first semester (direct admission) is Rs 1683 and for the entire course of second year/third semester (lateral admission) is Rs 2133.
Under the Chief Minister Scholarship Scheme for General and Other Category students, students can get up to 100 percent discount in tuition fees (Rs 11000) during each semester on the basis of marks obtained more than 60 percent in the qualifying examination.
