New Delhi:- A case of gang-rape of a 16-year-old girl in a moving sleeper bus has come to light in Delhi. The incident took place on August 4, and the police revealed the details on August 31. According to the police, the victim boarded the bus at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. The accused dropped her off at Kashmiri Gate. During this, the bus travelled for about 47 km, and the curtains were drawn on the windows.
The police have arrested the bus driver Kuldeep and the conductor Sandeep. Details about when the arrests were made have not been given. The victim is a class 11 student and hails from Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the police, the victim hails from Mainpuri in UP. After a family dispute, she left for her cousin's house in Noida by bus without informing anyone. Meanwhile, an empty sleeper bus passed by, and he signaled her to stop.
The driver and the conductor let the student board the bus, telling her that it was going to Noida Sector-63. Police say that shortly after the bus started, the conductor tried to molest her. The student told the police that both the driver and the conductor raped her. When she resisted, they threatened to kill her.
It is alleged that the two dropped the student on the Ring Road near Kashmiri Gate Bus Terminal late at night and then fled the spot. The student contacted Kashmiri Gate police the same night and reported the incident.
Based on the victim's complaint, investigators formed a team led by Kotwali ACP Shankar Banerjee. The team examined CCTV footage along the route to identify the bus and trace its route.
