Kharar (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), October 14: Under the directions of Director Youth Services, Punjab and in collaboration with Punjab State AIDS Control Society, today at the local Government Polytechnic College Khunimajra Mohali, an advocacy meeting of nodal officers and peer educated students of 55 colleges was organized under the leadership of S. Mantej Singh Cheema, Assistant Director Youth Services, in which the Principal of the college Eng. Raksha Kiran presided over the meeting and welcomed the guests.
S. Mantej Singh Cheema informed that through this advocacy meeting, funds are given to colleges/institutions under the Red Ribbon Club so that at the college level, the youth can get rid of HIV/AIDS, stay away from the effects of drugs, promote voluntary blood donation campaign and TV. Information was given about the work done by the youth in the Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
S. Gurbakshish Singh Nodal Officer Red Ribbon Club, as the main speaker, shared information with the Nodal Officers and students of various colleges/universities who came on the topic of Red Ribbon activities, importance of blood donation and war against drugs. Activities organized by the Red Ribbon Club of each college throughout the year International Day: Anti-Drug Day, International Youth Day, Voluntary Blood Donation Day, World AIDS Day, National Youth Day, National TB Day. Day etc.
Calendar was also released. The department also honored the Red Ribbon Clubs with good performance during the year 2024-25, CGC Jhanjeri, Gyan Jyoti College and Amity University. Financial assistance was also released to all the colleges for the programs of Red Ribbon Clubs.
The department is also organizing wall painting in colleges/Red Ribbon Clubs related to HIV/AIDS. While inspecting the seven-day NSS camp going on at the college, in which sessions related to AIDS, war against drugs and overall development of youth are being conducted,
Capt. Mantej Singh Cheema appreciated the volunteers and appealed to the other colleges to also contribute by running an awareness campaign in the society under the National Service Scheme. Jyoti Nodal Officer Gyan Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, Mohali provided valuable support in the entire program.
To make today's meeting a success, the college's National Service Scheme Coordinator Parminder Singh Saini, Program Officer Ravinder Kumar and Professor Barinder Pratap Singh, Charanjit Kaur Steno, Mrs. Munisha Mahajan, Mr. Raghav, S. Kuldeep Singh, Mrs. Ritu Goyal, Mrs. Lakhwinder Kaur, Daljit Kaur, Aman, Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur, Jyoti, Navjot Kaur, Seema Malik, Damanpreet Singh, Gurchet Singh, Jagtar Singh etc. Nodal officers from various colleges participated.
