Jalandhar:- In the history of freedom struggle, the day of 9th August 1925 is remembered by the Kakori (Uttar Pradesh) incident. The Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee Jalandhar has strongly condemned the demolition of statues erected in Shahjahanpur (UP) park in memory of martyrs Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Shaheed Ram Prasad Bismil and Shaheed Thakur Roshan Singh, who were hanged on 19th December 1927 in different jails of Uttar Pradesh and thrown into the city's garbage dump.
The committee says that first the British government hanged these patriots on the gallows, now for the second time the BJP's double engine government has brought those patriots to the 'gulf of death' against which people are protesting in Shahjahanpur and other places.
Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan's great-grandson, whose name is also Ashfaqullah Khan by the family, along with renowned scholar and writer Sudhir Vidyarthi of UP, Himanshu Kumar, Prof. Ved Vatuk, while talking to the Patriot Memorial Committee over the phone, said that when the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev was to be celebrated in the country and the world on March 23, on the same day, at 3 am, the statues installed in this park were stolen from the people without any information.
Now, when we see unrest among the public, we are being silenced by talking about taking legal action. It was in 1972 when the Municipal President, Shri Vas Dev Gupta, installed these statues. Scholar writer Sudhir Vidyarthi said very frankly that not even a leaf can move in this area without the orders of Suresh Khanna, the elected MLA of the Bharatiya Janata Party for the past nine years and currently the Finance Minister.
He clearly said that this did not happen by accident or due to any technical error, it is part of the BJP's agenda in which they are using every means to destroy revolutionary history, monuments, literature, museums and other symbols that bear witness to the history of national independence against imperialism and paint the people in the color of patriotism in our times.
Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee President Kulwant Singh Sandhu, General Secretary Gurmeet Singh and Convener of the Cultural Wing Amolak Singh have alleged on behalf of the committee that as the dominance of imperialist powers, their multinational companies and indigenous monopoly companies is increasing, the rulers are afraid that a public uprising is going to arise in the country against the imperialist companies and the Indian rulers serving them, taking inspiration from the revolutionary history of the freedom struggle and taking the path of the people's struggle, shameless steps like breaking the statues of martyrs are being taken to stop the coming storms.
The committee has also informed that in this way efforts are being made to erase the historical objects, writings, bullet marks and signs of folk heroes lying in Jallianwala Bagh. The committee has called upon all revolutionary democratic pro-people forces to unite and raise their voices against this phenomenon. The committee has called upon all organizations and families to gather at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall, Jalandhar on March 27 at 11 am on the occasion of World Theatre Day and raise their voices against the destruction of the statues of the martyrs of the Kakori incident.
