Chandigarh: Today, during a special meeting held at the office of the World Punjabi Propaganda Society, the organization welcomed the commencement of Punjabi studies at the Beijing Foreign Studies University in China. The meeting was presided over by the organization's President, Prof. Bahadur Singh Gosal. During the meeting, Chief Advisor Raj Kumar Sahowalia (former Deputy Secretary to the Government of Punjab), General Secretary Balwinder Singh, Avtar Singh Mahatpuri, Senior Vice President Jagtar Singh Jog, and Bhupinder Singh Bhagomajra expressed their delight that this Chinese university has accorded significance to the Punjabi language, honoring it as its 102nd language of study.
Now, alongside other languages, Punjabi will also be taught with great enthusiasm at Beijing University in China. They appealed to other universities across the globe to follow Beijing University's lead and take the initiative to introduce Punjabi studies. They stated that this course in Punjabi studies would prove particularly beneficial for Chinese students, diplomats, and government officials working abroad.
The organization's President, Prof. Bahadur Singh Gosal, remarked that the Punjabi language now ranks among the world's prominent languages. This language serves as a vital link fostering love and brotherhood among humanity, while also connecting foreigners to the hymns of the Sikh spiritual Gurus. He demanded that Punjabi be accorded its rightful place in all universities across the country and be included as a compulsory subject.
He further appealed to the nation's education boards to pay special attention to this matter and ensure the timely publication of Punjabi textbooks. All members of the organization passed a resolution pledging to continue their vigorous efforts toward the promotion and propagation of the Punjabi language.
