Karnal, September 10:- Karnal District Police is continuously taking effective action against accused persons involved in theft incidents. In this connection, Assandh Police Station arrested a woman accused in a case involving the theft of cash and gold jewellery from an almirah while she was working as a caretaker at the house, and made significant recoveries.
The arrested woman has been identified as Pooja, wife of Ravinder, resident of village Mardan Dheri, Assandh, District Karnal.
Investigating Officer Head Constable Pramod Kumar said that complainant Amrik Singh of Assandh had lodged a complaint at Assandh Police Station stating that his wife had undergone head surgery and was unable to speak or hear. The accused woman had been employed at the house as a caretaker to look after her. On August 10, 2026, the family members had gone out of the house. It is alleged that during this time, the woman took the key to the almirah and stole the gold jewellery and cash kept inside it.
On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered at Assandh Police Station under the relevant sections pertaining to theft.
The woman accused was arrested by a team led by Assandh Police Station In-charge Inspector Rajesh Kumar and Head Constable Pramod Kumar. Police recovered Rs 6 lakh 2 thousand in cash, two pairs of silver anklets, two silver bracelets and a gold locket from her possession.
The arrested woman was produced before the Hon’ble Court, which granted two days of police remand. After completion of the remand period, the accused woman was produced before the Hon’ble Court again today, from where she was sent to judicial custody.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
