New Delhi:- The weather in Delhi-NCR changed suddenly on the day of Janmashtami. The impact of heavy rain in the capital was also seen at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. Passengers faced a lot of inconvenience due to heavy waterlogging in the airport complex.
After the rain, the forecourt of Terminal-3 of Delhi Airport was flooded. The situation was such that passengers had to wait for about half an hour for the water to subside to go towards the arrival gate. Due to the waterlogging, the movement of passengers was affected and they had difficulty in passing through the water.
The employees working at the airport also expressed concern over such waterlogging. They say that despite working at the airport for many years, they have never seen so much water accumulating before.
Concerns were raised that this would also have a negative impact on the image of the airport. People have suggested that the reason for the waterlogging may be blockage in drainage or sewerage and have demanded improvement in the drainage system as well as concrete steps to prevent such a situation in future.
The Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for Delhi-NCR. Thunderstorm accompanied by rain is likely in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. Moderate rain is expected in most parts of Delhi and heavy rain of 50 to 100 mm is expected at some places during the next three hours. During this time, lightning and strong winds with a speed of 60 kmph are also likely.
