Una, September 5: The state government is ensuring the resolution of issues faced by rural residents on a priority basis by reaching out to them at their doorsteps. With this objective, the government and administration are organizing 'Jan Samvad' programs across various areas, enabling the general public to present their grievances directly to officials and public representatives. Kutlehar MLA Vivek Sharma stated this while addressing the public dialogue program organized in Upper Basal for eight panchayats: Upper Basal, Lower Basal, Thakurdwara, Tiyudi, Panoh, Baduhi, Badoli, and Barsala.
He remarked that the primary aim of the 'Jan Samvad' is to effectively extend the benefits of government schemes to the poorest (BPL) families and to formulate development plans based on their actual needs.
MLA Vivek Sharma noted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the state government is implementing numerous welfare schemes in the public interest. The residents of the state—particularly farmers and livestock rearers—are directly benefiting from these schemes.
He informed the gathering that the government has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for naturally grown wheat at ?80 per kg, maize at ?50 per kg, and raw turmeric at ?150 per kg. Many farmers in the state are reaping economic benefits from this initiative.
He added that to strengthen the animal husbandry sector, the MSP for buffalo milk has been set at ?71 per liter and for cow milk at ?61 per liter. This has bolstered the economic standing of livestock rearers; currently, young people are engaging in the animal husbandry business and leading dignified, improved lives.
On this occasion, MLA Vivek Sharma announced a grant of ?2 lakh for the construction of a sports ground in Upper Basal. He emphasized the importance of involving children and youth in sports, noting that sports foster not only physical health but also mental and intellectual development.
BDO Ramanveer briefed the local residents present at the event about various government schemes. Additionally, he stated that the government has established criteria for inclusion in the BPL category. He mentioned that the deadline for BPL enrollment has now been extended to September 20. He further stated that eligible families would be included in the BPL category in accordance with the criteria set by the government for the ninth and final phase.
A large number of local residents attended the event, including Una SDM Abhishek Mittal, BDO Ramanveer Chauhan, Pradhan Amrik Singh, Up-Pradhan Resham Singh, Zila Parishad member Sumit, and BDC member Mahendra Pal.
