SAS Nagar, December 31:- The residents of village Badmajra have written a letter to the Principal Secretary of Punjab demanding to include village Badmajra in Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar. It is worth mentioning here that during the hearing of the case filed in the Honorable Punjab and Haryana High Court by the villagers in this regard, after the Punjab government's lawyer said that a decision will be taken on the villagers' application within 8 weeks, the Honorable Court disposed of the case, and now in this regard, the villagers have sent a detailed letter to the government.
In this letter given by villagers Atmjeet Singh Chopra, Anil Kumar, Gurpreet Singh, Kulwinder Singh, and Surjit Singh, it has been said that on June 28, 2021, the Municipal Corporation Mohali passed a resolution to increase the limits of the Municipal Corporation, in which it was said to include village Bad Majra and Bad Majra Colony in the Municipal Corporation. In this regard, the Punjab Government issued a notification on December 23, 2021, and sought objections, but then this process was stopped.
Later, in a petition filed in the Honorable Court in this regard, the Punjab Government said that action will be taken within six months, but due to no action by the government, a contempt of court petition was filed against the government, after which the government issued a new draft notification on October 21, 2025, from which village Badmajra was excluded. This notification was challenged by some persons, and while the matter was pending, on November 3, in the meeting of the Municipal Corporation, a resolution was passed confirming the inclusion of all previously approved areas in the Municipal Corporation, but the government ignored the resolution of the Municipal Corporation and issued the final notification on November 28, 2025, in which some villages and private builder projects were selectively included in the corporation, but Bad Majra and Bad Majra Colony were left out.
In the letter, it has been said that in this regard, during the hearing of the petition filed by the villagers in the Honorable Court, after the Punjab government's lawyer said that a decision will be taken on the villagers' application within 8 weeks, the Honorable Court disposed of the case, and now in this regard, the villagers have sent a detailed letter to the government.
