Ludhiana 24 December 2025:- Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized a two-week Dairy Farming Training Program, in which 41 participants, including 40 males and 1 female, participated.
Dr. Jatinder Pal Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor, Extension Education Department appreciated the successful organization of the training program. Dr. Gill said that dairy farming, being an important part of the agricultural economy of Punjab, holds immense potential for self-employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable income generation.
Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director Extension Education said that dairy not only contributes significantly to household nutritional security but also plays a significant role in generating employment and promoting rural economic development. He further said that by increasing the quality through diversified milk and dairy products, profits can be increased to a great extent and new avenues for income can be created.
Course Director Dr. Jaswinder Singh outlined the curriculum of the program through which theoretical education was effectively combined with practical training. The program covered important aspects like proper housing arrangement, balanced ration, prevention and control of udder swelling, vaccination schedule, clean milk production, reproductive health management, biosecurity measures and marketing strategies for quality dairy products of milk.
Shri Gurnam Singh from Bank of Baroda highlighted the financial assistance schemes and institutional credit facilities for livestock enterprises. Dr. Priya Bahri, Dairy Development Inspector, Dairy Development Department, Punjab, delivered an informative speech highlighting the departmental initiatives and ongoing schemes to support dairy farmers.
The concluding session was addressed by Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Director, Regional Research and Training Centre, Talwara. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Ravdeep Singh and Dr. Prateek Singh Dhaliwal with Student Coordinator Dr. Simranpal Singh Sekhon.
