Ludhiana, 29th August 2026:- The five-day pig farming training programme at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana was successfully concluded. Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Course Director and Head, Department of Veterinary Extension Education, said that the training programme had a balanced mix of theoretical and practical sessions.
The objective of the curriculum was to impart essential scientific knowledge and practical skills for modern pig farming. The main topics included housing, breeding, feeding, health management, meat production, meat marketing, marketing strategies for quality meat products.
Dr. Ravinder Singh Grewal, Director Extension Education stressed on the university’s commitment to promote economic growth, sustainability and welfare of livestock farmers and allied businesses. Highlighting the growing interest and profitability in pig farming, he said that the university is providing comprehensive information and support to those interested in taking up pig farming as a profession.
He also presided over the valedictory session and appreciated the active participation of the trainees and encouraged them to see pig farming as a viable and sustainable means of livelihood. Certificates were awarded to all the participants on successful completion of the programme.
The programme was well coordinated by Dr. Prateek Singh Dhaliwal and student coordinators Dr. Navroz Kaur and Dr. Sanghmitra Tamuli.
