Haroli/Una, June 22 (Rajveer Chopra): A case involving the illegal felling and theft of Khair trees by unknown individuals has come to light in the village of Bhadiyara, within the Haroli subdivision. This incident has sparked outrage among local landowners. The aggrieved parties have lodged a complaint at the Tahliwal Police Station, demanding an impartial investigation and strict action against the culprits.
According to the complaint filed with the police, Kamal Singh, Raj Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar, and Pradeep Kumar—residents of Dulehar—own private land in Bhadiyara village where a large number of Khair trees were standing. The complainants stated that unknown persons cut down approximately 25 to 30 Khair trees on their land and removed the wood from the site.
When they visited their land for an inspection on June 20, they found only the cut stumps of the trees, while the wood itself was completely missing. The victims noted that Khair wood is highly valuable in the market, and the value of the stolen trees could run into lakhs of rupees.
They have suffered a significant financial loss due to this incident. They suspect that the thieves executed the crime in a planned manner during the night. Villagers also believe that felling such a large number of trees would not be possible without prior planning.
The complainants have urged the administration to examine CCTV cameras in the area, investigate suspicious activities, and recover the stolen wood. They warned that if timely action is not taken, such incidents could increase.
The Tahliwal police have initiated an investigation following the complaint. Police officials stated that the probe is covering all aspects; the culprits will be identified, and legal action will be taken against them in accordance with the law.
