Karnal, August 29: Union Minister for Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, will inaugurate four major projects of Karnal Smart City, worth ?23.67 crore, at 9:00 AM on August 30. The administration has completed all preparations for the inauguration.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO of Karnal Smart City, Dr. Anand Kumar Sharma, stated that Manohar Lal will first inaugurate the Observation Center built under the 'Mixed-Use Development' scheme at the Shakti Colony Complex; this facility spans 2,400 square meters and was constructed at a cost of approximately ?4.03 crore. The building comprises a ground floor, a first floor, and a second floor, with a total covered area of ??1,733.40 square meters. The first floor houses two office rooms, a store, two Child Welfare Committee rooms, a recreation room, a dining hall, two bedrooms, a counseling room, a dormitory, two classrooms, a library, five toilets, and five bathrooms. The second floor features a dormitory, a doctor's cabin, a sick room, a workshop, and five toilets.
He further mentioned that the Union Minister will subsequently inaugurate a community hall, a library building, and badminton and volleyball courts in Sector 33, constructed at a cost of ?11.20 crore; the project covers a total area of ??8,560 square meters (with a covered area of ??5,745 square meters). The community hall (spanning 799.72 square meters) includes a party lawn, lobby, entrance lobby, office, and green room, while the library building (spanning 626.09 square meters) offers facilities such as a reception, reading room, conference room, digital library, and café. Three badminton courts and two volleyball courts have been constructed. The community center consists of a ground floor, a first floor, and a second floor (each with a capacity of 500 people). The conference hall can accommodate 30 people, and the cafeteria can seat 100. The library building includes an audio-video room for 50 people and a conference room for 30 people. Additionally, the digital library will have seating capacity for 58 people. Across both floors of the library, 500 people will be able to avail themselves of the facilities.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the Union Minister would subsequently inaugurate a community center in Sector-32, constructed at a cost of ?7.24 crore. The center comprises a ground floor, a first floor, and a terrace level. The ground floor (992 sq. meters) includes a committee room, office, badminton hall, multi-purpose hall, kitchen, deck, and restrooms; the first floor (776 sq. meters) houses a gym, table tennis area, reading room, bridal suite, two additional suites, and restrooms; and the terrace level features a machine room/staircase cabin (with a capacity for 500 people).
He further mentioned that the Union Minister would inaugurate the renovation and plantation project for the Sector-9 road (covering the 0 to 600-meter stretch up to Shaheed Udham Singh Park). This project was completed at a cost of ?1.20 crore and spans an area of ??6.5 acres. It includes a 4,500-foot-long pedestrian path, a cattle gate, a main gate, and a 1,000-meter-long boundary wall. Additionally, 750 saplings have been planted, and the site features a 3,900-square-meter grass lawn, 20 benches, 200 date palm trees, and four rainwater harvesting structures.
