Una, October 20 - As part of the "Samarth 2025" program of the District Disaster Management and Authority, Una, artists from Purvi Kala Manch, Jalgran Tabba, performed street plays in the main markets of Lathiani and Thanakalan in the Bangana subdivision, raising awareness about earthquake-safe building construction.
The artists from Purvi Kala Manch informed the villagers that adopting earthquake-resistant techniques is essential to minimize loss of life and property during natural disasters like earthquakes. They emphasized that collective efforts and the use of technical knowledge play a crucial role in reducing the impact of disasters.
The artists advised people to consult an engineer before making any structural changes to buildings to ensure their strength and safety. Detailed information was also provided on earthquake-resistant construction techniques, such as the use of high-quality cement mortar, horizontal earthquake-resistant bands, strengthening brick walls, robust construction of door and window joints (jambs), pillar and foundation quality, piling methods, and standard concrete proportions.

In this series, under the Samarth 2025 program, street plays by artists from RK Kalamanch Chintpurni will be presented in Bangana and Khurwai on October 21st, Chintpurni and Bhanjal on October 22nd, Amb and Naihariyan on October 23rd, Gagret and Shivbari on October 24th, and Kuneran and Oil on October 25th, raising awareness about earthquake-safe building construction, disaster risks, and mitigation measures.
