Una, February 17: Under the banner of Maharishi Valmiki Guru Ravidas Youth Ekta Mahasabha Himachal Pradesh, a demonstration was held in Una on Tuesday in support of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The rally, which began at the old bus stand, traveled through various routes and reached the Additional District Magistrate's office. Mahasabha officials, OBC organization officials, youth, and social workers participated in the rally and raised slogans in support of the UGC.
Following the demonstration, a delegation led by Mahasabha State President Amit Valmiki submitted a memorandum to Additional District Magistrate Mahendra Pal Gujjar, presenting their demands. The memorandum stated that the University Grants Commission plays a vital role in strengthening the country's higher education system, encouraging research, and providing equal opportunities to students. The Mahasabha urged the government to further empower the UGC to further improve the quality of education.
The office bearers of the Mahasabha warned that if their demands were not given proper consideration, the movement would be expanded further in the future. On this occasion, many dignitaries including Chief Advisor of Maharishi Valmiki Mahasabha Chanchal Singh, spokesperson Valram Mahen, Unit Una President Ishant Ghugga, President of Chaudhary Foundation Sarwan Singh, President of Doctor Ambedkar Mission M R Daroch, Navdeep Mahen, Kulvarn, Bhupinder Jasal, Rahul Bagga were present.
