Santoshgarh/Una, February 20 (Chopra): Traveling to Himachal Pradesh is now going to be more expensive for tourists coming from outside states. The state government has increased the entry fees for vehicles entering from outside states by ?30 to ?230 per vehicle. The new rates have been notified and will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
According to the notification issued by the government under the Himachal Pradesh Tolls Act, 1975, these new rates will not only affect tourists coming from outside states but will also potentially increase freight costs.
According to the new rates, the entry fee for private cars, jeeps, vans, and light motor vehicles has been increased from ?70 to ?170, a direct increase of ?100. The fee for 12+1 seater passenger vehicles has been increased from ?110 to ?130.
The fee for mini buses (32 seats) has been increased from ?180 to ?320, while the fee for commercial buses has been increased from ?320 to ?600.
The entry fee for machinery used in construction work has been increased from ?570 to ?800. The fee for large cargo vehicles has been increased from ?720 to ?900. The entry fee for tractors has also been increased from ?70 to ?100. However, the fee for double-axle buses and trucks remains unchanged at ?570.
The implementation of the new rates is expected to have a significant impact on the tourism and transportation sectors in the state.
