Patiala- On the occasion of World Health, Safety, Respect and Prosperity Day, under the leadership of Principal Dr. Swinder Singh Rekhi, training sessions were organized for the girl students of Government Girls College, Patiala on Disaster Management, Civil Defence, First Aid, CPR, Traffic Rules and Cyber Security.
The Principal informed that in the present circumstances and in future natural and man-made disasters, wars, domestic issues, traffic accidents etc., training and practice for self-protection and helping the victims can save millions of lives. That is why the NSS Unit of the college is organizing these training programs.
For this purpose, Disaster Management, First Aid and Fire Safety Trainer Shri Kaka Ram Verma and ASI Ram Saran from Punjab Police Traffic Education Cell imparted practical training to the students on saving precious lives during emergencies.
He specially emphasized that in situations where a person’s death can occur within two to four minutes — such as stoppage of breathing, heart and brain functions, excessive bleeding, or when a person is trapped in gas, smoke, water or debris — it is essential to save lives through immediate action.
Camp Incharge Professor Narinder Pal Kaur, Prof. Sakshi, Sonia and Professor Parneet Kaur, while expressing gratitude, said that such trainings and practical exercises are highly beneficial to prevent ongoing accidents, mishaps, heart attacks, cardiac arrests, unconsciousness, shocks, gas leaks, fires, electricity and petroleum-related incidents and to save lives.
They added that in many countries, young people do not get admission or jobs without such life-saving training.
