Yamunanagar: A meeting of trade representatives was held in Haryana under the chairmanship of Bajrang Garg, the provincial president of the Trade Board and former chairman of Haryana Confed. The meeting discussed ways to promote trade and industry in the state. Addressing the meeting, Bajrang Garg, the provincial president of the Trade Board, stated that trade and industry are continuously lagging behind due to the wrong policies of the central and state governments. Yamunanagar district is a hub for plywood, Panipat for textiles, and Bahadurgarh for footwear.
These industries are providing employment to millions of unemployed people. The government needs to pay special attention to the plywood, textile, and footwear industries. The government should provide a 50 percent subsidy on electricity bills for industries in the state. Industrialists are unhappy with the government's increase in fixed charges from ?165 to ?290. The government should eliminate fixed charges on electricity bills altogether. Traders, industrialists, and the general public should be billed according to the amount of electricity they use; imposing fixed charges is completely wrong.
Bajrang Garg said that the government should provide maximum facilities to promote trade and industry in the state. The progress of every state depends on trade and industry. States where trade and industry flourish always prosper. No government can eliminate unemployment on its own. Trade and industry provide employment to 80 percent of the unemployed in the state. Even millions of people from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and other states are employed through industries.
The government needs to provide a special package to promote small and medium-sized industries at the village level so that mothers, sisters, and youth can find employment through village-level industries. They can contribute to eliminating unemployment by setting up small-scale industrial units, as in the past.
