Hoshiarpur: The 'Progressive Punjab Investors Summit,' held at Plaksha University in Mohali, has opened doors to new possibilities for Punjab's tourism sector. These sentiments were expressed by Dr. Sanjeev Tiwari, Director of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Punjab, during the summit.
Dr. Tiwari stated that this summit reflects the Punjab government's commitment to holistic economic development, wherein special emphasis is being placed not only on industry but also on the promotion of tourism and cultural heritage. Commending the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal, he noted that a positive and conducive environment is being created for investors within the state.
He also lauded the efforts of Sanjeev Arora—Punjab’s Minister for Industry, Commerce, Investment Promotion, and Local Bodies—stating that the summit, organized under his leadership, has emerged as a significant platform for showcasing the potential of the tourism and hospitality sectors—alongside industry—at both national and global levels.
Dr. Tiwari remarked that Punjab holds immense potential in the tourism sector, thanks to its rich heritage, vibrant culture, religious sites, and renowned hospitality. Through such events, new investment opportunities emerge across the state's tourism, heritage conservation, eco-tourism, and hospitality sectors.
He further added that the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs is continuously working to promote Punjab's unique identity, festivals, cuisine, and historical sites on a global stage. The department's objective is to collaborate with investors and various stakeholders to develop world-class tourism infrastructure, thereby attracting an increasing number of tourists from both within the country and abroad to Punjab.
Dr. Tiwari asserted that, driven by progressive policies, strong government support, and growing investor confidence, Punjab's tourism sector is poised for rapid growth in the times to come. This expansion will strengthen the state's economy and simultaneously generate new employment opportunities for the youth. At the summit, several prominent industrialists and global business leaders—including Lakshmi N. Mittal, Sajjan Jindal, and Sunil Kant Munjal—also shared their views on the vast investment potential in Punjab.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Tiwari stated that initiatives such as the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit demonstrate that Punjab is emerging as an attractive destination for industry, tourism, and cultural exchange.
