Patiala:- India has become infamous in all countries of the world that in the last 10 years, 20 lakh people died in India, 50 lakh victims of traffic accidents had to live as disabled for a long time and 30 lakh drivers had to go to jails and 60% of those who died, became disabled or went to jail due to traffic accidents have been minors and youth.
The people, employees and youth of India have government driving licenses but not even 10% have knowledge of traffic rules, laws, principles, duties, patience, peace on roads, humility, tolerance and right of way. It is surprising that Indian parents first teach their children and minors to drive vehicles, then by giving them petrol, they send their children to commit suicide or kill people walking on the roads.
When minors or young people die on the roads or become disabled, people curse the governments, administration and police. But people consider it their pride to violate the rules and regulations and walk on the roads without helmets, seat belts. 95% of women never use helmets, seat belts. They are more concerned about the safety of their hair than their lives.
But when accidents cause death or disability, they demand compensation from the governments. 98% of traffic accidents, deaths, disabilities or punishments are due to the drivers' own mistakes, negligence, haste, speed and lack of understanding.
Shri Kaka Ram Verma, Chief Trainer First Aid, Safety, Health Awareness Mission Patiala has written all this and repeatedly sent it to the Punjab Government, Transport Minister, Education Minister, DGP Traffic Police, Punjab, Deputy Commissioner Patiala and District Education Officer Secondary Patiala, requesting that under the "Safe School Vehicle Policy" implemented by the Supreme Court, Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2012, committees of students, teachers, parents, police and subject experts should be formed in each school and meetings should be held every month.
Twice a year, students, teachers, drivers, and parents should be given training on traffic rules, laws, principles, duties, first aid, care of injured people, fire safety, use of cylinders. Mock drills should be conducted in schools once a year under the policy. For which purpose, the district administration, police department and subject should be encouraged to provide training.
Kaka Ram Verma said that under 6 types of E, namely, Education, (providing training) Environment, (creating a safe environment) Engineering (road structure) Emergency services (first aid care for the injured) Enforcement (enforcing strictness) & Encouragement (encouraging good smart people by giving award certificates), etc., work should be done according to these 6 types of E to make the traveling people safe, stress-free, and smooth.
An affidavit should be taken from every employee/job holder that they will continue to follow the traffic rules and laws honestly for their own safety and the safety of others. If they do not follow, then they will not be entitled to government assistance. In January 2026, the National Road Safety Week or Month will also be observed by the governments and administration. During which activities are carried out under this mission, then every driver should travel while considering it safe.
