Hoshiarpur:- With the aim of providing safe, clean and quality food items to the common people, continuous inspection campaigns are being conducted by the Food Safety Department Punjab. Under this link, under the orders of the Honorable Commissioner Food and Drug Administration Punjab Mr. Dilraj Singh IAS and Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Mrs. Ashika Jain IAS and as per the guidelines of Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Balbir Kumar, a special inspection campaign was conducted in Mahilpur area today by Food Safety Officer Ishan Bansal and team under the leadership of District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia.
During this inspection, a total of 3 samples of food items were collected from various food business places of Mahilpur area. These include one sample of cooking oil, one sample of sugar and one sample of mayonnaise. All these samples have been sent to the Food Safety Laboratory, Kharar for quality testing and further action will be taken as per the Food Safety Act based on the lab report received.
During the inspection campaign, the Food Safety Team gave strict instructions to the concerned food business operators to strictly follow the cleanliness, personal hygiene and food safety standards at their business premises. The team emphasized on ensuring compliance with the prescribed norms during storage, preparation, packing and sale of food and beverages.
On this occasion, District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia and Food Safety Officer Ishan Bansal appealed to the general public to exercise utmost caution in the matter of food and beverages and to buy food items only from licensed and trusted vendors. He said that fresh, safe and hygienically prepared food is the sign of good health and healthy and safe food should be preferred at every opportunity.
