Hansi:- A cleanliness campaign was conducted on Tuesday in village Putthi Mangal Khan of Hansi under the leadership of SDM Rajesh Khoth. The main objective of the campaign was to develop a feeling of love, responsibility and public participation towards cleanliness in the minds of villagers, so that cleanliness does not remain just a government program but becomes an integral part of every citizen's lifestyle.
During the campaign, cleanliness was carried out in the village's public buildings, streets, roads, chaupals, drains and other public places. A JCB machine and four tractor-trolleys were used to remove garbage, bushes and dirt accumulated for a long time. Throughout the campaign, the cleaning work was done in an organized and planned manner, which made many parts of the village clean and tidy.
In this special campaign, Block Development and Panchayat Officer Ashok Kumar, sarpanchs of five villages, many Gram Sachivs and sanitation workers of six villages actively participated. Officers and employees of the Development and Panchayat Department also cooperated enthusiastically in the campaign. All of them participated in the cleaning work themselves and gave the message that cleanliness is not only the responsibility of the government, but is the collective responsibility of every person of the society.
During the campaign, SDM Rajesh Khoth said that to awaken love for cleanliness in the hearts of citizens is the real objective of this campaign. He said that if every citizen remains vigilant about the cleanliness of his house, street and public places, then the picture of villages and cities will automatically change. He said that a clean environment is the identity of a healthy society and by adopting cleanliness, many infectious diseases can be prevented.
He said that to make the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan successful, only administrative efforts are not enough, but active participation of the general public is equally necessary. Only when people voluntarily pledge to keep cleanliness around them, a permanent environment of cleanliness will be created. He appealed to the villagers to throw garbage only at designated places, not to throw plastic and other waste here and there and to cooperate with the administration in keeping their village clean and beautiful.
The SDM said that Gram Panchayats are the most important link in the rural sanitation system. If the Panchayat representatives regularly monitor the cleanliness system and keep making the villagers aware from time to time, then the culture of cleanliness in the villages will become even stronger. He called upon the present sarpanchs to regularly run such public participation-based cleanliness campaigns in their respective villages.
During the campaign, bushes grown around public buildings were removed, drains were cleaned and scientific disposal of garbage was ensured. The sanitation workers worked with full enthusiasm and dedication and made various parts of the village neat and clean. With the use of JCB and tractor-trolleys, the campaign got momentum and cleaning work was completed in more area in less time. The garbage and other waste collected during the campaign was taken to a designated place and disposed of properly. SDM Rajesh Khoth said that this special cleanliness campaign is an important step towards developing and notifying the pond of village Putthi Mangal Khan as a wetland. He said that maintaining a clean and pollution-free environment around the pond is essential for wetland development, which will also promote environmental protection, biodiversity enhancement and water conservation.
The villagers also welcomed this initiative and actively cooperated with the administration and pledged to keep the village clean in future. Many villagers themselves participated in the cleanliness campaign and gave the message that cleanliness is possible only through public participation.
SDM Rajesh Khoth said that such special cleanliness campaigns will be continuously conducted in other villages of the sub-division as well. Through these campaigns, people will be made aware about cleanliness, environmental protection and healthy lifestyle, so that clean, beautiful and healthy villages can be built.
On this occasion, Block Development and Panchayat Officer Ashok Kumar, sarpanchs of five villages, many Gram Sachivs, sanitation workers of six villages, officers and employees of the Development and Panchayat Department and a large number of villagers were present. All of them took a collective pledge to maintain cleanliness and make their village ideal and clean.
