Hoshiarpur:- Former cabinet minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood has said that former cabinet minister Tikshan Sood, along with district president Satish Bawa, former mayor Shiv Sood, former councilors Surinder Pal Bhatti, Ashok Kumar and Sanju Arora, arrived to join the ongoing strike of sanitation workers and other unskilled workers in the Municipal Corporation complex. For the last 4 days, sanitation workers and other unskilled workers of the Municipal Corporation have been sitting on a strike against the atrocities of the Punjab government and are protesting in the courtyard of the Municipal Corporation.
The striking employees of the corporation have announced a Hoshiarpur bandh from 9 am to 5 pm as per the instructions of the state unit under the announcement of Punjab bandh on July 30. Addressing the protesters, Shri Satish Bawa and Shiv Sood said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has always supported the sanitation workers and the Valmiki community. Shri Teekshan Sood said that during the BJP government, a bus stand was also built here in the name of Maharishi Valmiki and thousands of sanitation workers were also made permanent in Punjab.
The Aam Aadmi Party made many announcements for the sanitation workers, but instead of fulfilling the announcements, it committed inhuman atrocities by lathi-charge on the sanitation workers who were peacefully protesting. He said that in Barnala, on the orders of the government, the police lathi-charge on the protesting sanitation workers as well as women. Justifying the demand for the suspension of the DSP concerned, he said that the DSP was just a pawn, the real culprits are Bhagwant Mann and the local body minister.
He should resign taking moral responsibility for this lathi-charge incident. He said that it is not possible to take a step back until the demands of regularization of sanitation workers and other demands are met. He assured that he and his party BJP will support the protesters in every way.
