Karnal, January 8: Children with disabilities in the city will now be seen playing in parks. They will not only be able to stroll but also swing and exercise. They will also be able to walk comfortably on the pathways in the park. For this, the Karnal Municipal Corporation is going to develop three large parks in the city into ultra-modern parks. These will be developed to be wheelchair-friendly so that people with disabilities visiting the park do not face any difficulty in moving around. This information was given by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vaishali Sharma.
She said that such parks have wide pathways, ramps and easy signage so that wheelchairs and other assistive devices can move easily. Swings and play equipment are installed that allow physically challenged children to play with other children. These parks give children of all abilities the opportunity to play, learn and connect with the community together.
Parks included - She said that three large parks in the city have been included in the ultra-modern park project. These include Shri Ram Vatika Park in Sector-13, Swami Vivekananda Park on Kachhwa Road, and the park near house number 2106 in Sector-7, which will be specially developed for children with disabilities. An amount of approximately Rs. 1.83 crore will be spent on developing these parks. She said that administrative approval has been given for this project, and tenders will be invited soon.
21 types of swings and equipment will be installed - She said that about 21 types of swings and equipment will be installed in these parks. These include EPDM tracks, Sit and Sticker swings, Cheerful Churn, seesaws, Fishy Funny seesaws, Duet, wheelchairs, Playful Panel, Show-Show Panel, Gondola swing, Arm Revolve Assist, Merry Go Adapt, FRP Gazebo, Merry Go Haha, Harsys Harmony, Fantasia Fun, Climb Crazy Cartel, swings, Mini Spiral Slide, Small Wonder Play, and Cho Cho. This will also make the beautification of these parks very attractive.
Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vaishali Sharma said that the state-of-the-art park for children with disabilities is an inclusive space where all barriers are removed so that people with disabilities can play and have fun without any hindrance. They will be able to enjoy using wheelchair-friendly pathways and special swings, which will provide them with opportunities to interact with other children and the community.
