Mohali, September 15, 2026:- The third session of ‘The Plus Programme’, a flagship initiative of Rayat Bahra International School (RBIS), was organised on the theme “The Tiny Chip Running the World: The Semiconductor Story”. Professor Dheeraj Kumar Mahajan of IIT Ropar participated as the keynote speaker, while Jessica Duggal Bahra, Vice-President of Rayat Bahra Group, was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the students, Prof. Mahajan provided detailed information about the basic principles of semiconductors and their important role in modern technology. He explained that these tiny chips are the backbone of modern electronic devices and play a key role in the development of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, smartphones, electric vehicles and space missions.
During the session, the entire process from the design and development of semiconductor chips to their manufacturing was also discussed. Through simple explanations and practical examples, Prof. Mahajan familiarised the students with the importance of semiconductors in shaping innovation and the future of technology.
Students participated enthusiastically in the interactive session and asked questions related to artificial intelligence, chip technology and its applications. The discussion enhanced their curiosity and provided them with a deeper understanding of this important technology that is driving the modern world forward.
RBIS Director-Principal Abhilasha Singh, Engineer Sonal Sood and senior faculty members were also present on the occasion.
