New Delhi:- The cold has started to subside in North India for the last two-three days. The afternoons are sunny, and the evenings are pleasantly cool. However, this change in the weather is not going to be permanent. Starting from Friday, the weather in the hilly and plains regions of North India will change completely for a week.
Due to the activation of two consecutive western disturbances, the weather in Northwest India will change again, albeit with a slight difference. Heavy snowfall in the hills and cyclonic winds in the plains will bring rain, strong winds and fluctuations in temperature. According to the Meteorological Department, the first western disturbance will become active on January 23, while the second, more powerful system may become effective between January 26 and 28.
There is a possibility of widespread rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between January 23 and 26. Heavy snowfall is expected in the Kashmir Valley and the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, especially on January 23. This will intensify the cold wave in the mountains.
In the plains, light to moderate rainfall is expected in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan between January 23 and 24. Rain is also likely in eastern Uttar Pradesh on January 23 and 24. During this period, strong winds with a speed of 30 to 50 kmph are also expected in many areas.
