Chandigarh, November 26 - Haryana's Minister of State for Sports Mr. Gaurav Gautam said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister of the country Mr. Narendra Modi, work is being done to provide a better platform to the players through competitions under the MP Sports Festival in every corner of the country, in the mohalla, in the village and the players are also improving their talent and bringing glory to their society, city and state as well as the country.
The Minister was addressing the MP Sports Festival program as the chief guest at the Sports Stadium in Sector-10 of Ambala city today. The program was led by Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Rekha Sharma and former Minister of State Mr. Asim Goyal, Mandeep Rana and other honorable people were present on this occasion.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Sports, Shri Gaurav Gautam said that Haryana is known all over the world for its sports. Out of the total population of the country, two percent of the population belongs to Haryana, but more than half of the medals in international competitions are won by Haryana players.
He said that Haryana's sports policy is the best in the entire country. The state government is at the forefront in encouraging and providing jobs to the players. Other states are also following Haryana's sports policy.
He said that the state government is working to provide better facilities to the players and the players are also showcasing their talent and bringing glory to the state.
He said that the MP Sports Festival is held every year and through this Sports Festival, the players get a platform to move forward in life.
While giving his blessings to all the players participating in the competition, he said that in whatever sports like Olympics, Asian or others are held in the future, the players here should also come forward and bring glory to their district.
He also announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh for the activities of the MP Sports Festival on this occasion. Talking to reporters on this occasion, the Minister of State for Sports said that the death of a player in Nirsari, Rohtak is a big loss for the department as well as the family. Strict action will be taken against any department or other department found to be negligent in this matter as per the rules.
