Una, October 10 – The second phase of the special public awareness campaign being conducted by the state government for the welfare of the Scheduled Castes concluded today. On the final day of the second phase, awareness programs were presented in Basoli and Sasan, under the Una development block.
During this period, artists from Purvi Kalamanch Jalgran Tabba raised awareness among local residents about government policies, programs, and public welfare schemes through songs, music, and street plays. They also informed people about the ill effects of drug abuse.
Artists from a theatre group affiliated with the Information and Public Relations Department explained during the awareness programs that in cases of atrocities against Scheduled Castes due to caste discrimination, a minimum of 25,000 rupees and a maximum of 825,000 rupees of rehabilitation relief is provided under Section 3 of the Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989, if a case is registered with the police. In cases of murder, the widow of the deceased is also given a monthly pension of ?5,000 calculated at the current dearness allowance percentage on the basic salary.
The government provides for the entire education and maintenance expenses of the deceased's children until graduation, and provides rations for the family's sustenance for three months. Immediately after the incident, the affected person must file a First Information Report (FIR) at the nearest police station, and the amount will be disbursed as per the provisions of the Act after the challan is presented in court.
In addition, eligible candidates from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, persons with disabilities, widows, single and abandoned women, and minorities aged 18 to 35 years with an income of more than ?2 lakh are provided free one-year computer training for PGDCA and DCA.
He also informed the villagers about the Chief Minister's Sukh Ashray Yojana, Indira Gandhi Sukh Shiksha Yojana, Indira Gandhi Sukh Suraksha Yojana, and other welfare schemes. Also, while emphasizing on drug prevention, he described drug addiction as a serious evil of the society and appealed to the people to stay away from drugs and make the society aware about it.
On this occasion, Basoli's Pradhan Shashi Devi, Sasan's Pradhan Arpana Kumari, Deputy Pradhan Baldev Singh and Jeet Kumar, ward members Ranveer Singh, Jagtar Singh, Praveen Kumari, Satpal, Preetpal and Neelam along with local people were present.
