Santokhgarh/Una, February 13 (Pankaj Chopra): Today, Dr. Ram Narayan Prabhakar, President of the Senior Citizens Welfare Council, Santokhgarh, District Una, Himachal Pradesh, and Secretary Jagmohan Singh Walia were appointed as Advisor and Convener respectively at the Himachal Pradesh State Level Elder and Senior Citizens Welfare Council, Himachal Pradesh, Shimla.
In this regard, a state-level meeting was held on February 12, 2026, in Mandi city, Himachal Pradesh, under the chairmanship of State President Mr. Ashok Awasthi. District Mandi President Mr. Ranpat Singh Rana was specially present at the meeting, and Mr. MS Chandel conducted the stage efficiently.
Secretary Jagmohan Singh Walia, Dilbag Singh Vaid, and Bhag Singh Saini from Santokhgarh attended the meeting in Mandi city, Himachal Pradesh.
On this occasion, newly appointed State Convenor and Secretary of the Senior Citizens Welfare Council, Santokhgarh, Jagmohan Singh Walia, addressed various points during his speech and urged State President Mr. Ashok Awasthi that the state government should increase the 30% concession provided to senior citizens through the HRTC Transport Samman Card to 60%, provide them with bus seats if they are unable to find a seat, and that banks, post offices, hospitals, and various public dealing offices in the state should place senior citizens in reserved lines and prioritize their work.
Furthermore, Walia urged that the 50% railway fare concession for senior citizens, which was suspended by the central government during the COVID-19 pandemic, should be restored soon.
State President Mr. Ashok Awasthi assured that all the issues raised by Jagmohan Singh Walia will be seriously considered and raised with the state and central governments.
