Karnal, February 5: A Startup Haryana workshop was organized by the Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Haryana, in collaboration with Maharana Pratap Horticulture University (MHU), Karnal. The one-day workshop was inaugurated by the Honorable Prof. Suresh Malhotra of MHU as the chief guest. 86 students and entrepreneurs participated in the workshop.
The Honorable Prof. Suresh Malhotra highlighted the Haryana government's startup policy, stating that today's era is one of innovation. Expressing concern over the failure of startups, he said that success can only be achieved by developing products according to market demands. He discussed how to become an entrepreneur, how to bring products to the market, and how to market them. He emphasized that product marketing is the most crucial aspect. The Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Suresh, said that the objective of entrepreneurship is not only to make students employable but also to create new employment opportunities for others.
He highlighted the 80:20 formula of management, explaining that 80 percent of success is achieved with only 20 percent of the effort. He said that the government is running many schemes to encourage new startups, enabling young people to become successful businessmen and provide employment to others. Prasoon Mathur, an officer from the Department of Industries and Commerce, served as the main speaker for Startup Haryana and shed light on various aspects of startups.
He explained how the government can provide financial assistance and infrastructure grants to those who have started their businesses within the last two years or are planning to do so. He highlighted the registration process and importance of the Haryana government's startup portal. Dr. Devraj, Dean of the College of Horticulture, provided information about the program's outline.
A business quiz was organized during the workshop, in which participants were asked questions related to starting their businesses and the policies of the Haryana government. Students and entrepreneurs participated enthusiastically. Awards were given to third-year students of MHU and a prominent entrepreneur. Successful entrepreneurs answered the questions asked by the students. Dr. Sanjay Joshi, Head of the Social Sciences Department, thanked the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Dean, DSW, entrepreneurs, and students who attended the workshop. Registrar Dr. Surendra Singh, Director of Extension Education Dr. Vijay Pal Yadav, Director of Student Welfare Prof. Ranjan Gupta, and others were also present on the occasion.
