Karnal, February 27: Farmers remain steadfast in their protest demanding a service lane on the Karnal Ring Road. The farmers' protest, under the aegis of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, entered its 22nd day on Friday. This protest, which has been ongoing for 22 consecutive days, has now begun to garner widespread public support. Today's protest was strongly supported by the Sarva Karamchari Sangh and the Janwadi Mahila Samiti. The presence of both organizations further emboldened the farmers at the protest site. The protest was jointly chaired by Sushil Gurjar, District President of the Sarva Karamchari Sangh, and Mamtej, District President of the Janwadi Mahila Samiti. Addressing the protest, Sushil Gurjar, District President of the SKS, said that the demand for a service lane on the Ring Road is completely justified and should be met as soon as possible. He questioned how farmers will access their fields if the service lane is not built. The government should stop harassing the sons of the soil. He said that farmers have been protesting for so long, but despite this, the administration is turning a blind eye, which is highly condemnable. He strongly criticized the district administration and said that if the farmers' problems are not resolved soon, the movement could intensify.
The participation of various organizations in the protest clearly indicates that this movement is no longer limited to farmers alone; rather, it has become an issue concerning the general public. Mamtej, District President of the Janwadi Mahila Samiti, stated that the women's organization stands firmly in this struggle of the farmers and will support them at every level in their fight for rights. All the organizations present at the protest site unanimously stated that the movement will continue until the demand for a service lane on the Ring Road is met. The growing public support and unity among the organizations clearly indicate that this movement could become even more widespread and influential in the coming days. Box
