Hansi: The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) organized a Senior Citizens' Victory Day program at the Bajrang Ashram in the city on Friday. The elderly were honored and felicitated, and the party reiterated its commitment to protect their rights. District President Vijay Jain presided over the program, while the party's National Organization Secretary, Umed Singh Lohan, attended as the chief guest. Lohan said that this day symbolizes the victory of those elderly whose pensions were cut. After a long struggle, their pensions were restored.
He alleged that the BJP government in the state had stopped the pensions of more than 100,000 elderly people, claiming that their pensions were incorrectly calculated. This caused financial hardship for thousands of families. He said that under the leadership of INLD and party supremo Abhay Singh Chautala, this issue was vigorously raised. Protests were held from the Assembly to the streets, and pressure was exerted on the government.
He claimed that as a result of persistent struggle, the government was forced to reverse its decision and restore the pensions cut for the elderly. District President Vijay Jain stated that the experience and guidance of the elderly community is the greatest asset of any state.
