Una, February 15: While a daughter's marriage is an emotional and proud moment for every family, it also becomes a huge responsibility for economically disadvantaged families. The Himachal Pradesh government's Chief Minister's Kanyadan Yojana is playing a vital role in providing respectful support to such families. By providing financial support to needy families, this scheme is helping them to marry their daughters with dignity and self-respect.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the state government is prioritizing social security schemes to provide real relief to vulnerable groups and ensure equal opportunities in society. Under the scheme, eligible families are provided with a grant of ?51,000 for their daughters' marriages, providing significant support to underprivileged groups.

*325 families benefited in three years*
District Program Officer (ICDS), Una, Narendra Kumar, stated that over the past three years, 325 eligible families in Una district have been provided financial assistance totaling ?1,65,75,000 under the Chief Minister's Kanyadan Yojana. This scheme is playing an effective role in the social security sector in the district.

*Effective implementation under the supervision of the district administration*
In Una district, the district administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal, is ensuring the successful implementation of the scheme. The administration is committed to timely identification of eligible families and providing benefits through a simple process.
At the field level, Child Development Project Officers, supervisors, and Anganwadi workers are continuously conducting awareness campaigns to provide information about the scheme to eligible families.

*These are the eligibility criteria for the scheme*
The Chief Minister's Kanyadaan Yojana covers destitute girls whose fathers have passed away, former residents of Nari Seva Sadan, or daughters of neglected, abandoned, or divorced women, or girls whose fathers are unable to earn a living due to physical or mental disability, and whose guardian's annual income does not exceed 50,000 rupees. To avail the scheme, an application must be made on the prescribed form, accompanied by an income certificate verified by the concerned Tehsildar.

Eligible beneficiaries wishing to avail the scheme can contact the District Program Officer, Child Development Project Officer, Supervisor, or the nearest Anganwadi worker. Applications can be made from two months before the wedding date to six months after the wedding.
