Kharar, November 12: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) youth leader Ravinder Singh Khera said that the central government is on the path of destroying Punjab and Punjabi culture by taking anti-Punjab decisions from time to time. First, the central government tried to snatch farming from farmers by enacting agricultural laws, and now it is trying to snatch education from the youth of Punjab.
He was addressing a protest rally organized in support of students fighting against the Senate election dates at Punjab University in Chandigarh. He said that by abolishing Punjab University, which existed before the partition of the country, the central government is trying to eliminate the rights of students.
He termed the granting of educational institution licenses to the then governments and the state's confectioners as a betrayal of Punjabis. He said that these individuals, who controlled major educational institutions, have now become members of the Lok Sabha, but no one has raised a "yes" in favor of this prestigious university of Punjab. He said that the central government is bent on changing the history of Punjab, and as a result, it is hatching nefarious conspiracies to take over Punjab's educational institutions.
He said that the people of Punjab will not allow these central schemes to succeed under any circumstances. He appealed to all of Punjab to unite and fight for the rights of students, saying that history bears witness that no one has ever disrespected Punjabis. He demanded that the central government immediately announce the schedule for the Senate elections and give Punjab its due.
