Hoshiarpur:- The holy festival of Lohri was celebrated by Lions Club Hoshiarpur Pearl at the Old Age Home Ram Colony Camp under the chairmanship of President Vijay Arora. On this occasion, peanuts, rewari, juice, fruits and other food items were offered to the elderly living at the Old Age Home. On this occasion, President Vijay Arora said that Lohri is not just a festival, but a symbol of mutual love, respect and unity.
He said that seeing the happiness on the faces of the elderly gave me great peace of mind. Because the elderly are living their lives away from their children. Today, by celebrating the festival of Lohri with them, we have received endless blessings from the elderly, which are difficult to express in words.
On this occasion, prominent social workers Sanjeev Arora and Lion Umesh Rana said that Lohri, the main festival of Punjab's folk culture, is no longer limited to lighting a fire, but has changed a lot over time. Earlier, Lohri was mainly celebrated on the birth of a boy, but now the tradition of celebrating Lohri on the birth of a girl has started, which is commendable.
They said that celebrating Lohri for girls is not just a ritual, but a social message, which shows that today girls are working equally with boys in every field. On this occasion, the Old Age Home managers thanked the Lions Club members and said that the society should come forward and spend time with the elderly, so that they do not feel alone.
The elderly living in the ashram also said that such events give them happiness and they feel like family. In the end, everyone sang Lohri songs together and food and drinks were distributed among the elderly.
