Chandigarh, March 26:- Important decisions were taken in the meeting of the High Forward Purchase Committee held here today under the chairmanship of Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini with the aim of strengthening the storage arrangements for the Rabi 2026-2027 season. There were two agendas in the meeting for procurement of jute and other bags worth Rs 550 crore, Rs 80 crore was saved through negotiations. Approval was given for procurement of jute bags and other bags to ensure safe storage of wheat.
This decision will further strengthen the storage capacity of food grains in the state and there will be no hindrance in the safe storage of wheat purchased from farmers.
This procurement process is being done keeping in mind the requirements of the Food and Supplies Department, HAFED and Haryana State Warehouse Corporation.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure that the procurement process is completely transparent, time-bound and in accordance with quality standards, so that optimal use of government resources can be made.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to protecting the interests of farmers and safe storage of agricultural produce. He directed the officers to complete the preparations for the Rabi season on time, so that there is no difficulty in managing the crop coming to the markets.
Haryana Urban Local Government Minister Mr. Vipul Goyal, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Mr. Shyam Singh Rana, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Arun Gupta and other officers were present in the meeting.
