Chandigarh, August 20:- The Haryana Government has taken a public interest decision to reduce the financial burden on the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0. On the directions of Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini, the stamp duty and registration fee on the conveyance deed (ownership transfer document) for houses up to 60 square meters under this scheme has been fixed at Rs 500-500.
Dr. Sumita Mishra, Financial Commissioner of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, said that the department had issued two separate orders related to stamp duty and registration fee on August 10, 2026. These orders were published in the Haryana Government Gazette on August 13, 2026.
Dr. Mishra said that in the first order issued under the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, the Governor of Haryana has reduced the stamp duty on conveyance deeds of houses up to 60 sq m under PMAY-U 2.0 to Rs 500 per deed.
He said that this exemption will be available only when the transferee (the person receiving the property) produces a certificate from the Department of Housing for All (DHFA) or the authorized authority that he is a registered beneficiary under PMAY-U 2.0.
The second order amends the rules related to registration fee under the Registration Act, 1908. It fixes the registration fee at Rs 500 per deed for conveyance deeds of houses up to 60 sq m under PMAY-U 2.0, subject to production of the prescribed beneficiary certificate.
Accordingly, the eligible beneficiary of PMAY-U 2.0 will pay Rs. 500 each as stamp duty and registration fee on the conveyance deed. This exemption is only for eligible houses up to 60 sq m under PMAY-U 2.0 and does not provide any exemption or reduction in charges applicable on other property transactions.
