Hansi (Dinkar Gavdi):- The district administration has further strengthened the monitoring system to effectively prevent incidents of crop residue burning and promote proper crop residue management. In this regard, a meeting of officers and employees included in the village-level task force committees was held at the auditorium of SD Women’s College, Hansi. The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Lakshit Sareen. The meeting reviewed the functioning of the monitoring committees constituted to prevent incidents of crop residue burning in the Hansi, Narnaund and Bass areas, along with the progress made so far.

A total of 97 monitoring committees have been constituted for the Hansi, Narnaund and Bass areas. Each committee includes a Patwari, Gram Sachiv, one employee of the Police Department and one employee of the Agriculture Department. These committees have been directed to regularly monitor their respective designated villages and areas and, upon receiving information about any incident of crop residue burning in the fields, reach the spot and ensure necessary action.

Directions Issued to Ensure Effective Monitoring at Every Level

Additional Deputy Commissioner Lakshit Sareen directed the officers and employees to regularly visit their respective designated areas and keep a close watch on incidents of crop residue burning. He said that the monitoring committees should properly maintain records and reports of activities taking place in their respective areas and immediately provide information about any incident to the concerned officers. He directed the officers to ensure that the monitoring system does not remain confined to paperwork but is effectively visible at the ground level.

He said that, considering prevention of crop residue burning as an extremely essential task, all officers and employees should discharge their duties with complete dedication, seriousness and responsibility. He made it clear that if any kind of negligence or dereliction of duty comes to light, strict action will be taken against the employees of the concerned monitoring committee.

Emphasis Also Laid on Creating Awareness Among Farmers

The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that crop residue burning not only increases air pollution but also adversely affects soil fertility. Therefore, apart from monitoring and action, it is also necessary to create awareness among farmers about crop residue management. He directed the Agriculture Department officials to provide farmers with information about available technologies, agricultural machinery and other means for proper management of crop residue and motivate them not to burn stubble.

He said that all concerned departments should work in mutual coordination and ensure an effective monitoring system up to the village level. The officers and employees included in the village-level task force should maintain continuous contact with farmers in their respective areas and provide them information about incorporating crop residue into the soil and other scientific management measures.

Officials Provide Information on Action Taken and Monitoring System So Far

During the meeting, the concerned officers provided information about the work carried out so far in their respective areas under crop residue management and the monitoring system. The Additional Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to continue awareness activities along with monitoring in their respective areas and systematically maintain records related to information, inspections and action taken regarding incidents of crop residue burning.

DSP Vinod Shankar Bhardwaj, BDPO Ashok Mehra, SMS Dr. Aarti, SMS Agro Dr. Preeti Verma, SMS Dr. Robin, Technical Assistant Dr. Vikas Singh, along with officers and employees of the Agriculture, Revenue, Development and Panchayats, Police and other concerned departments, were present at the meeting.
