Santoshgarh/Una, June 18 (Rajveer Chopra): A special public welfare camp was organized by the Santoshgarh Municipal Council under the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi scheme. The objective of the camp was to extend the benefits of various central government welfare schemes to street vendors and small traders, thereby empowering them economically.
The camp was attended by Santoshgarh Municipal Council Executive Officer Harsh Gupta; Councilors Charanjeet Kaur (Ward No. 3), Kusum Lata (Ward No. 6), and Anjana Chabba (Ward No. 9); Ashutosh Sharma; CMMU experts Sushil Kumar and Abhishek Pathania; CO Kiran Bains; Shamli Thakur; representatives from various banks; and a large number of street vendors.
On this occasion, officials provided detailed information about the Pradhan Mantri SVANidhi scheme, explaining that eligible street vendors can avail loans of ?15,000, ?25,000, and ?50,000 in three respective phases without any collateral. They noted that beneficiaries who repay their loans on time receive an interest subsidy of 7 percent. Additionally, a cashback of up to ?100 per month is provided to encourage digital transactions.
Officials stated that under the ‘SVANidhi se Samriddhi’ program, beneficiaries are also provided with information and benefits regarding other central government welfare schemes, such as the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and Jan-Dhan Yojana.
During the camp, the grievances of street vendors were heard, and eligible beneficiaries received necessary guidance regarding the application process for the scheme. Urging street vendors to make the most of government schemes, Executive Officer Harsh Gupta remarked that such camps play a crucial role in making small traders self-reliant and strengthening their economic status.
The street vendors present at the camp appreciated the Municipal Council's initiative, stating that such awareness programs provide them with accurate information about government schemes and simplify the process of obtaining financial assistance. They demanded that such camps be organized in the future as well.
