Sangrur, June 23:- Poonamdeep Kaur, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur held a meeting with representatives/secretaries/presidents of all recognized political parties to inform them about the instructions issued by the Election Commission of India, New Delhi regarding Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of the voter lists in the state of Punjab. During which they were informed about the various date-bound activities to be conducted under the program of Special Intensive Revision-2026 in the state of Punjab.
They were informed that from 25th June 2026 to 24th July 2026, BLOs will go door to door in the state of Punjab and provide Enumeration Form (in which some details of the voters will be already entered) to every voter registered in the voter list.
BLOs will also assist voters in filling the Enumeration Form. It will be mandatory for the voter to provide a current photograph with the Enumeration Form but no other documents will be collected with the Enumeration Form.
If during the field visit the house of any voter is found closed or locked, then the BLOs will drop the Enumeration Form of the concerned voter along with the Information Slip (on which the details of the BLO are entered) inside the house and will paste a Sticker outside the house (on which the details of the visits to be made for collecting EF are to be entered).
The BLOs will visit the concerned houses at least thrice during this period to obtain the Enumeration Form.
The draft publication date of the voter list is to be done on 03.08.2026. Claims and objections will be taken from 03.08.2026 to 02.09.2026, which will be disposed of from 03.08.2026 to 28.09.2026 and the final publication of the voter list will be done on 01.10.2026.
District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur Poonamdeep Kaur appealed to the political parties present in this meeting to extend full cooperation to the BLO in the Special Intensive Revision of the voter lists.
Apart from this, if any recognized political party has not yet appointed Booth Level Agents (BLA), then they should immediately fill the prescribed form of BLA-2 and submit it to the offices of the Electoral Registration Officers so that BLOs under SIR. Before the house to house visit of each party, BLAs of each party should have been appointed at each booth.
In this meeting, Mr. Joga Singh (CPIm) Mr. Harmel Singh (Bahujan Samaj Party), Mr. Suresh Bedi (Bharatiya Janata Party), Mr. Sher Singh Ballewal (Shiromani Akali Dal), Mr. Rocky Bansal (Indian National Congress) Mr. Harpal Singh Sonu (Indian National Congress), Mr. Gurnaib Singh (Shiromani Akali Dal)(Amritsar)), Mr. Harpal Singh (Aam Aadmi Party), Mr. Sonu Singh (Aam Aadmi Party) besides Mr. Ankur Mahindru, Additional Deputy Commissioner (J.) Sangrur, Mr. Sukhchain Singh Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Sangrur, Mr. Rajvir Singh Assistant Commissioner (J.) Sangrur, Mrs. Paramjit Kaur, Election Tehsildar and election staff were present.
