Karnal, April 21: Continuous campaigns are being conducted to make the city's roads encroachment-free. In line with these efforts, the Municipal Corporation of Karnal and the Haryana Urban Development Authority jointly removed encroachments from the area behind the Old Bus Stand and from ITI Road, which falls under the designated 'No-Vending Zone.' This information was provided by the Municipal Commissioner, Dr. Vaishali Sharma.
She explained that, as part of the anti-encroachment drive, an operation was first carried out in the market area behind the Old Bus Stand, led by the Haryana Urban Development Authority. During this operation, illegal hoardings placed on the road and those affixed to the road dividers were removed with the assistance of a JCB machine. Additionally, street carts (rehdis) parked illegally on the road, as well as goods displayed outside shops by shopkeepers, were removed.
Under the 'No-Vending Zone' regulations, goods displayed outside shops on ITI Road were also seized. Furthermore, street vendors were issued a strict warning against parking their carts within the designated No-Vending Zone. They were reiterated that parking carts or placing goods on the road within a No-Vending Zone would result in the issuance of a fine (challan).
Dr. Sharma stated that such campaigns not only help in bringing order to the city but also provide a safer environment for its residents. She urged shopkeepers and street vendors to exercise self-awareness and to abandon the habit of encroaching upon public spaces. She noted that the Municipal Corporation has already issued directives requiring shopkeepers to keep their merchandise strictly within the confines of their respective shops, and urged them to comply with these instructions. She clarified that the Municipal Corporation's campaign to make the city's roads and markets encroachment-free would continue unabated.
The enforcement team present during the operation included Municipal Corporation Sanitation Inspectors Mandeep Singh and Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Sanitation Inspector Pravesh Kumar, along with staff members and a team from the Haryana Urban Development Authority.
