Amritsar:- The budget session of the Sikh organization Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, known as the mini parliament of Sikhs, has presented an estimated budget of Rs 1487.41 crore for the year 2026-27 today. Which was approved and passed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee members present in the budget session amidst cheers.
During the budget session that began at Teja Singh Samundri Hall under the leadership of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, General Secretary Sher Singh Mandwala presented the budget. The budget for this financial year is Rs 100.94 crore more than the previous year. A budget of about Rs 1386 crore was passed during the previous financial year. This year, a 7.28% increase has been recorded in the budget compared to the previous year.
The budget session was also attended by the acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj, Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Giani Tek Singh and the Granthi Sahibs of Sri Harmandir Sahib.
During this, some resolutions have also been passed in the General House, including the demand for the release of Sikh prisoners in jails, the demand regarding the act being made by the government to prevent sacrileges that the government should first place this draft before the Sangat, expressing concern over the attacks on the distinct identity and existence of the Sikh religion and asking the Sikh Sangat to remain vigilant.
Earlier, Mithu Singh Kahneke, a member of the opposition party who was present in the session, said that the budget session of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee should be of more days so that the budget can be discussed in detail in it.
