Jaito, January 21:- SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the gross sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by tearing the sacred parts of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in village Mahla, Jalandhar, terming it as a failure of the Punjab government in law and order and responsibility towards the state. Advocate Dhami said that the continuous increase in the incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the past years is a matter of great concern.
The current Punjab government has proven to be unsuccessful in stopping them and has not been able to take any exemplary action against the perpetrators who have come forward in most of the incidents, which is an expression of a deep hurt to Sikh sentiments. He said that in the latest incident, tearing the sacred parts of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in village Mahla, Jalandhar is a direct challenge to Sikh sentiments.
This incident also seems to be part of a bigger conspiracy, because the cameras installed in the Gurdwara Sahib were also switched off. He said that it is a matter of sorrow that the government is not taking any serious notice of the sacrileges and the cases of such incidents are continuously increasing. Advocate Dhami demanded that the culprits of this incident and the forces working behind it be brought to the fore and strict action be taken, saying that if the government does not take action according to the sentiments of the devotees, then the devotees will have to be forced to struggle.
He said that on receiving information about the incident, the Shiromani Committee, under the leadership of member S. Ranjit Singh Kahlon, has sent officials from Gurdwara Sri Mau Sahib and Dharam Prachar Committee, who have been instructed to take action at all levels.
The Shiromani Committee President said that in the current environment, it is the great responsibility of the Gurdwara Committees to ensure surveillance in the Gurdwara Sahibs. Sewadars should be kept posted at all times and proper arrangements should be made for cameras as per the requirement.
