Amritsar- In the election for the post of President in the general session of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee held today, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has been re-elected as the President. A total of 136 votes were cast during the general session, out of which Dhami got 117 votes.
Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar Surjit) candidate Mithu Singh Kahneke got 18 votes while one vote was rejected. Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has become the President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee for the fifth time. The main contest for the election was between the ruling party Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and Mithu Singh Kahneke from the Shiromani Akali Dal Punar Surjit.
