Ratia, 26 August- A special campaign is being run by the Public Health Engineering Department to legalize illegal water and sewerage connections in Ratia city. Teams of the department are checking connections of houses, shops and other establishments in various wards of the city and notices are being issued to the concerned consumers on finding illegal connections.
District Advisor Public Health Engineering Department Fatehabad Sharma Chand Lali said that the consumers who have already been issued notices by the department should get their water and sewerage connections approved as soon as possible under the prescribed procedure. From September 1, 2026, action to close sewerage connections of consumers who do not get their connections legalized despite being given notices will be started.
He said that the objective of the department is not to harass any consumer, but to systematize the water and sewerage system in the city and bring all connections into the departmental record. Due to illegal connections, apart from loss of revenue to the department, there is also problem in operation of sewerage system.
Sharma Chand Lali said that special facility is being given by the government to get water and sewerage connections legalized. Fee of Rs 1,000 for drinking water connection and Rs 500 for sewerage connection has been fixed. Consumers should take advantage of this facility, get their connections legalized and avoid future action.
He appealed to the city residents whose water or sewerage connections are not yet legal, to contact the concerned Public Health Engineering Department office without delay and get their connections approved.
Sharma Chand Lali said, "Leave illegal connections and adopt legal connections and cooperate with the department in improving the city's water and sewerage system."
During this, employees including Kuldeep Singh, Prithvi Singh, Khand Sanyojak Pawan Kumar, Ram Mehar Singh, Sandeep Singh, Nafe Singh, Shri Ram, Deepak Kumar, Krishna Sharma, Dinesh Sharma, Dalbir Singh were present.
